SRG Helps Nuffield Student Bursaries Scheme

Mon 25 Feb 2008

SRG’s 2007 online Christmas card promotion raised £500 for the Nuffield Science Bursaries Scheme for Schools and Colleges.

SRG decision to send out an online Christmas card was a corporate decision not only to be more supportive to the environment by avoiding the printing of 1,000’s of cards but also to raise money for charity. This promotion was a huge success and the result is that a number of worthwhile charities will be receiving donations.

Nuffield Science Bursaries offer up to 1000 funded places a year, so that students across the UK can get an insight into the world of scientific research and development, including areas of technology, engineering and maths. The bursaries are offered to first year post-16 science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) students in England, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland.

The scheme helps students to take part in STEM based projects, lasting 4-6 weeks, in universities, industry or research institutions during the summer holidays. Students work alongside practising scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians.

SRG’s donation will be put towards the Student Hardship Fund, which helps those students who are unable to take up a bursary placement due to financial constraints.
